Last May, the students of 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades of primary education went on a trip to the Rías Baixas, specifically to O Grove. We left at 09:30 in the morning to be at the port of this town at 11 am, since a boat was waiting for us there to go see a raft and to have them explain to us how mussels are cultivated, which are a Protected Designation of Origin, which means that it is recognized and protected by the European Union as a superior quality product and that the entire process, from breeding on the rafts to their purification and packaging, is carried out strictly on the coasts of Galicia.

We arrived in the middle of the Arousa estuary and from the lower part of the boat we could observe through an underwater glass what a raft looks like on the submerged part. They also explained to us how the seeding and breeding process is. Once the didactic part was finished, we proceeded to the culinary tasting of this mollusk, enlivened with lively music and accompanied by an unbeatable day.

After arriving at the port of O Grove we went looking for a place to eat, as we know that the sea air always makes us hungry. We arrived at an old Catalan salting factory in Moreiras, which dates back to 1931 and was built on an older one from 1790. In this place there were explanatory panels on how this salting process was carried out to preserve the fish.

After this "banquet" we had to stretch our legs a bit so we went to an esplanade first where they played for a while and then we started a short walk to see some of the treasures that our low estuaries hide. It must be said that in general the students are in good shape. After finishing this short walk we arrived at a children's park to play again and spend some time before entering our last destination of the day, the O Grove aquarium.

The visit to this facility was guided by two girls and a boy. We went through the various ones seeing the richness of our sea, both in terms of fish species and molluscs and crustaceans. The truth is that they made it an entertaining and also educational moment. When we left, we could already see that our strength was not the same as at the beginning and fatigue was a general trend. The bus arrived and we left for school after an entertaining and educational day.
